The New Mac Mini
I KNOW I am a little late with this post, and because of that I am sorry. Any-who here we go.
1.) Faster. Apple has made the new Mac Mini about 2 Times faster. They have done this with the latest dual-core Intel Core i5 processors come standard on the Mac mini. Or if you choose a 2.3GHz or 2.5GHz dual-core Intel Core i5, or configure Mac mini with an even faster 2.7GHz Intel Core i7. With up to 2 times the performance speed of the previous generation. This is amazing because the Mac mini keeps up with computers twice its size and sometimes bigger. When you are using processor-intensive applications such as Photoshop, FinalCut Pro X or others, Turbo Boost 2.0 increases the clock speed up to 3.4GHz. Hyper-Threading lets each core run two threads, so OS X multitasks even more efficiently. And an integrated memory controller connects fast 1333MHz memory directly to the processor, so it gets right to work on your data. I guess I could have just said Apple is claiming it is going to be super fast.
2.) Faster Graphics. The 2.5GHz Mac mini features a discrete AMD Radeon HD graphics processor with 256MB of GDDR5 memory. That brings up to twice the power to graphics-intensive applications and gives you a super-responsive gaming experience. The Intel HD Graphics processor in the 2.3GHz Mac mini delivers plenty of power for everyday tasks like managing photos and editing HD video. But also makes playing your favorite games or watching action movies even more enjoyable.
3.) ThunderBolt Port. The new Thunderbolt technology in Mac mini is phenomenally fast. It features two 10-GBPS channels for data transfer. That’s up to 12 times faster than FireWire 800 and up to 20 times faster than USB 2.0. But beyond speed, Thunderbolt technology should give you very nice expansion capabilities. You can daisy-chain as many as six Thunderbolt peripherals, including the new Apple Thunderbolt Display. And since Thunderbolt is based on DisplayPort technology, your Mini DisplayPort devices plug right in as well.
4.) This next part is definitely not new to Apple. You get to simply plug your own display, keyboard, and mouse into the new Mac mini. Turn it on. And just like that, everything works together. That’s one of the great things about this Mac mini. You can mix and match it with almost anything. Apple has done a wonderful job at doing that in the past.
Those are really the main features about the new Mac Mini that I wanted to cover. To find out more about this new device, head over to Apple’s Mac Mini Website
